We were really Stunned by the Stone Carving on the Walls of Konarak Sun Temple in Orissa, which has the Giraffe in it. (See the Picture of the Stone Carving in Konarak Temple ). Konark Natya Mandap

Near the Famous Konarak Sun Temple lies the Konarak Natya Mandap. The Konark Natya Mandap is a people’s center for Orissan culture, founded in 1986, aims at making a living Konark which will speak round the clock on the rich cultural heritage of Orissa. It was started by Guru Gangadhar Pradhan, a renowned Odissi Dance Guru and Mardal player of international repute as a mission with the differences to promote Orissi cultural value that promotes human dignity, humanity, peace and teaches love through its rich artistic manifestations.

Who Built the Konark Natya Mandap ?


Guru Gangadhar Pradhan's training began at the age of six at Balunkeswar temple in Puri District, Orissa to mature as a gotipua dancer. He was trained by Guru Banchhanidhi Pradhan, Pt. Chandra Shekhar Pattnaik, Guru Mahadeva Rout and Guru Birabara Sahoo. He completed his Natya Acharya course in Odissi from Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyala. He received further training in Odissi under the able guidance of Guru Pankaj Charan Das, Guru Devprasad Das, Dr. Minati Mishra and Shri Dhirendra Nath Pattnaik. He mastered the delicate nuances and the subtleties of the Odissi dance form none other than Padma Bibhusan Kelucharan Mohapatra.

Yatri Nivas Konark OTDC

The Visitor Tourist has a good accommodation at the  OTDC Yatri Nivas at Konark Sun temple Area. The OTDC Panthanivas is situated  at the opposite of Entrance Gate to Konark Sun Temple. Whereas the Yatri Nivas by Orissa Tourism is Situated just 100 foot away. The Surrounding is very nice and one can see the Black Pagoda topmost part from here.
